Mekong River Flooded Forests

At Cambodia's Ramsar Wetlands, the Mekong flows through and around dense forests and islands which form a sanctuary for numerous animal and plant species, especially birds. This remote section of the Mekong River is one of the most unique regions of Cambodia. This area is best visited by river kayak. A day trip down river or multi-day river journey can begin in Stung Treng or near the Laos border.
Ask us about a custom 3-day or 4-day river trip connecting Laos or Ratanakiri to Siem Reap or Phnom Penh.

Mekong River Dolphins

The Mekong River between Stung Treng and Kratie consists of rocky rapids, sandy islands, shallow channels and deep dolphin pools. The Mekong River Dolphins are one of the most endangered mammals in the world, but can still be easily seen between Stung Treng and Kratie. This stretch of rivers offers refuge to an outstanding variety of plants and animals including giant soft-shell turtles, giant catfish and thousands of fish species.
